I Am Who God Says I Am New Year's Eve

I have spent too much of my life in my own head, beating myself up over my mistakes, worrying about my future, and stressing about things I cannot control.  Why? I know it doesn’t do me any good, it robs me of joy, and it goes against what God wants for me, yet I still do it.

So here is my desire for 2026 and beyond.

  1. Root myself in God’s truth about who I am in Christ.
  2. Prioritize rest over striving and doing.

Who does God say I am?

  1. He created me. I am not a mistake. I was created with care.  Psalm 139:13
  2. I am his workmanship, his masterpiece, his poem. Ephesians 2:10
  3. He has adopted me into his family. Ephesians 1:5
  4. The God of the Universe calls me his friend. John 15:15
  5. I am beloved by God. He pursues me. Song of Solomon 7:10
  6. Despite absolutely not deserving it, still I am forgiven. Romans 8:1

I will rest in who I am. I will work fewer hours, taking a Sabbath rest and using my holidays and vacation time. That includes taking a six week sabbatical with my husband to Alaska this summer. I will set my mind on scripture so that when my mind veers off course into self condemnation or  worry I will remember what is true. I will prioritize caring for that physical being that God knit together with better choices, starting with sleeping more (when insomnia doesn’t decide otherwise).  Hebrews 4:9-10   Matthew 11:28-29   Psalm 62:5

So that’s all. In 2026 my goal is to set my mind on Christ and firmly root my identity in Him and the work He did for me on the cross so that my mind and my body can find true rest.
